My computer at home just shut off yesterday. After turning it back on, it gave me a message saying that the fan is broken and it could overheat. Does anybody know where I should take it to get the fan replaced? Is this easily done at home?

Is it the fan in the power supply, or another fan in the case?

Generally, a fan is not the toughest piece to replace, but you need to get one that is exactly the right size and voltage.

Yeah, thanks. I called CompUSA and I guess they can do it. I'm not sure what fan it is, the message just says that the "Fan failed" or something.

Yeah, if it's just a case fan, and isn't your cpu fan or power supply fan, then any idiot can plug in a new one and screw it to the side of the case,

It was the CPU fan and it has to come directly from Dell. That kind of sucks, it could be a couple of days before the wife has her home computer back.

Thanks for the help, though.

Yeah, sounded like the CPU fan, since your MB actually realized the fan was down.
