With an announcement tomorrow and Apple asking that particular pics and YouTube videos be pulled, it's almost certain that Apple's press conference is about the iPod. From the sounds of everything, this is the iPod that's been in development since before the 5G model was. The end-all, be-all. The entire face is a touch screen, virtual click-wheel, still no wi-fi and an OS similar to the iPhone. I knew I should have waited...

I read an article on Yahoo where some analyst said those looking for features similar to the iPhone will most likely be disappointed. Take that for what you will.

my Ipod Mini finally took a shit so i went to best buy to get a 2 gig nano. They said they were completely out of stock nationwide because of newer models coming out ... im guessing it has something to do with this.

the only ipod feature that gives me a boner is increased hard disk space. they can add all the wifis and touch screens they want but it's not going to get me to trade in my 80GB.

The announcement is absolutely about the iPod - the invitations that were sent out had the iPod-silhouette-people on it. But I've heard that there will be Wi-Fi.
Regardless of what the announcement will be, I'm sure I'll be glad I still haven't upgraded my my trusty old 2nd Gen. I doubt it'll hold up much longer, as well. Quick question for those of you whose iPods have bitten the dust: have you been unable to rescue all your shit off of it? That's what worries me most.

why the hell would you spend 150-200 bucks on a 2gig player when you can get good, if not better ones for 40 bucks? like MF said, the only reason i have an ipod is because of its big hard drive.

Looks like you can now get an 80 gig iPod "classic" for $250 and a 160 gig for $350.

The only reason someone would get the "iPod touch" is to have wireless internet. To be, it's not that big of a deal. That's why I'll stick with the iPod classic.

How big is this 160gb? Still fit in your pocket?

I'll have to get a 160gb eventually, just so I can rip stuff at ridiculously high bitrates and still have room for lots of albums.
