A friend of mine swears that he guessed the plot twist in Primal Fear before it happened. I'm not so sure I believe him (he's not the sharpest tool in the shed), but it made me wonder if I've ever guessed a plot twist before it happened. Personally, I can't think of any off the top of my head, but I'm sure I had to at one point or another. Anybody recall any examples of this?

I usually spend the first half of a movie thinking about which turns the plot is gonna take and usually end up being right. It's quite annoying because that makes movies a less enjoyable, at least those that have a rather complex plot. Which, on the other hand, is why I often enjoy really dumb movies a lot.

I actually didn't figure this one out, but back in 99, I went to see the sixth sense with my friend jake. At the part when you see his wife getting the anti-depressants from the bathroom, My friend jake says aloud " Look, he's dead too, his wife doesn't even notice him, he's fucking dead!" I can't say the people around us in the theatre were happy when they found out at the end.
The question is, did you people know there was a "big twist" coming? If so, of course you're going to look for it, and most likely, find it. I saw The Sixth Sense on opening night, and had no idea about any "twist ending" or anything. Same with Usual Suspects, which I also saw before it opened wide. I also hate it when the studio promotes films with a "has an ending you'll never see coming!" type of line. Well, thanks, Hollywood, now we all know a twist is coming. Twists work only when we don't know, geniuses.
Of course, I'm also the type of person that watches movies as they happen, without trying to figure everything out. Doing that actually ruins enjoying the movie in my opinion, because you're preoccupied with trying to figure it out, instead of enjoying character, story, and performance, and letting it unfold at its own pace.

primal fear did smack me upside the head the first time i saw it...
but one i did figure out was eternal sunshine - i don't know how much of a "twist" it was, because to me it was fairly obvious when he got the scratch on the door i figure it all out. and my wife is sitting next to me crying and i'm like, why is she crying? it's going to be OK in the end...

I pretty much agree with about 97.4% of what you say about movies...we should hug sometime

Exactly what my problem is. Adding to this I also tend to overanalyze the acting (even of the smallest roles) which makes watching movies really hard.

I do that too, which is why I stink at guessing any twists or turns. I get so involved with the dialogue and the actor that I have no energy to out-think the plot. I hang on every word the actors are saying and the movie pretty much revolves around that, not the other way around.
