VMA Losses Spark Another Kanye Tantrum Sept. 9, 2007, 10:48 PM EST

LAS VEGAS -- Sour grapes from Kanye West — again. Shut out at the Video Music Awards, Kanye West threw a tantrum Sunday night in front of media and crew backstage as the MTV show was ending.
West, waiting for an elevator in a crowded hallway, began yelling about losing all five categories for which he was nominated.
"That's two years in a row, man ... give a black man a chance," West said, stomping around his entourage and directing his comments at a reporter. "I'm trying hard man, I have the ... number one record, man."
West said he never will return to MTV.
The rapper was nomination for five awards, including male artist of the year. This is the latest in a series of awards show outburst for West. Last year, he crashed the stage at the MTV Europe Awards after not winning for best video.

seriously though, I mean do these awards mean anything?

he's a douche who counts on his tantrums to make people talk about him the next day/week, thereby giving him tons of free publicity and ensuring he'll throw another one in about six months.

does race always have to be an issue?
Really. Not for nothing, but I can't turn MTV on for more than 5 minutes without seeing or hearing a black artist at some point within that 300 seconds. If there's one thing I hate, it's when black artists pull the race card bullshit. The days of Al Jolson dancing around in blackface make-up are long gone, and using race as an excuse at the fucking MTV VMA's is so laughable I could cry from hysterics. Fuck Kanye and his spoiled, horseshit agenda.

well, it is often an issue
Only because people always seem to (wrongly) claim it is, hence making it one. Anyone who plays the race card as their defense about being wronged pretty much loses all credibility from where I stand. It's old, it's tired, and it just doesn't apply to many of these "wrongs" anymore.

i have to strongly disagree with this Frank ol' boy...but, again, i really don't know what to say to enlighten because if you don't see that race and discrimination is still a major issue, i am not about to convince you or anyone otherwise...i should add, though, that often the socio-economic status is a big factor in the treatment of some minorities...no money, no power

This could get ugly so I'll just say you and I must agree to disagree. We're both stubborn and I doubt either of us will convince the other, so there's no need to waste the space and energy.
Wanna make out?
