Guaranteed has leaked. What do you think? Just as a reminder--songs cannot be offered publically on the site, and begging for pms is discouraged. If you do your homework and read the appropriate threads you should be able to track down a copy for yourself without too much trouble

Thanks to Badradio for transcribing the lyrics

"Guaranteed" lyrics

On bended knee is no way to be free
Lifting up an empty cup, I ask silently
All my destinations will accept the one that's me
So I can breathe...

Circles they grow and they swallow people whole
Half their lives they say goodnight to wives they'll never know
A mind full of questions, and a teacher in my soul
And so it goes...

Don't come closer or I'll have to go
Holding me like gravity are places that pull
If ever there was someone to keep me at home
It would be you...

Everyone I come across, in cages they bought
They think of me and my wandering, but I'm never what they thought
I've got my indignation, but I'm pure in all my thoughts
I'm alive...

Wind in my hair, I feel part of everywhere
Underneath my being is a road that disappeared
Late at night I hear the trees, they're singing with the dead
Overhead...

Leave it to me as I find a way to be
Consider me a satellite, forever orbiting
I knew all the rules, but the rules did not know me
Guaranteed

I normally don’t like when you hear the scratch of moving your fingers up and down the strings, but it really works here. This song totally fits with the poster of the movie with the main character sitting up on top of his bus in the universe pondering his place in it. It’s an honest and imperfect melody that fits perfectly with the sense of naïve hope and boundless horizons. Lyrically it is pretty strong, with an utterly fantastic final lyric. This song has grown on me with every listen, and I imagine I’ll like it even more when I see the movie.

My favorite lyric of eddies in the past few years. Fucking beautiful and sad and so perfect with this song/story. So good. Love this tune.

The guitar work is quite impressive on this. I never would've thought Ed would be willing to play guitar fingerstyle. It reminds me of Elliott Smith although the tune sounds nothing like him. Maybe its because I've just been listening to some of his stuff lately. The lyrics are sensational and perhaps required a more delicate touch as opposed to him just strumming a few chords, but I can easily envision this as the closing song that ends up rolling over the credits, ending, and then going into Hard Sun.

some of the strongest and most consistent lyrics ed has done in a while. i love the sentiment and it should work perfectly within the film.

A mind full of questions
And a teacher in my soul
And so it goes...

This is beautiful.

Rise and Long Nights are nice but don't grab me. This grabs.

This my fav of the bunch.

Call me crazy if you want, but this song reminded me of something and I couldn't put my finger on it until it finally hit me. Maybe it is Ed's delivery (which I think it is) the melody or arrangement or something.

but it is:

"Someday at Christmas". slowed down. Granted I haven't heard that song in a long time.

probably only me?

Wow... There is that sense of the philosophical again... these lyrics are haunting, yet beautiful at the same time... which I feel is almost a common theme...

Sometimes (like now), Eddie's lyrics remind me of a more mellow-Jim Morrison...

Here's a nice easy way to play Guaranteed...it's the same through every verse

Guaranteed" Chords

G............................D...............
On bended knee is no way to be free
F...............................C..............
Lifting up an empty cup, I ask silently
C...............................G.........................
All my destinations will accept the one that's me
..................D

I knew all the rules, but the rules did not know me
Guaranteed

Thanks for putting up these chords. I've got the melody on my violin, and I was just working out the chords on the piano.

Had a chance to give it a shot and you're absolutely right... Here's the correction.

This song is McCandless. Ed couldn't have done any better with the lyrics. This is my favorite original song on the album.
