then what did Sirius mean ?
Sirius means that they will be playing the track from the album, like they did with Kanye West this past Monday.
does anyone else get the feeling this might sell relatively well? it strikes me as so strange. i mean, nothing out there sounds like this album. i can't figure it out.

Believe it.
From Billboard:
Sports network ESPN has teamed up with numerous record labels to preview new music during its Monday Night Football and Monday Night Countdown broadcasts. The network's promotional initiative starts tonight, when snippets from Kanye West will be featured prior to commercial breaks and during the halftime show....
Two songs from Eddie Vedder's new solo record and soundtrack to the Sean Penn-directed movie of the same name, "Into The Wild," titled "Rise" and "Hard Sun," have recently been confirmed (Sept. 17 Redskins vs. Philadelphia Eagles game)....
Last year, Monday Night Football on ESPN averaged more than 12 million viewers per game and became cable's most viewed series in TV history according to ESPN reps.

ESPN's putting out new music, Starbucks is selling new albums. The music business is officially broken. I can see Ed wanting to do something for the Bears if they were ever on MNF, but I guess you gotta do what you can to get your music out there, even if Into The Wild and MNF don't exactly go hand in hand.

How long until a Pearl Jam song ends up in a commercial?

Not broken. Trying to find a new way to connect. The entire music industry is having a hard time finding and connecting with its audience. It probably has more to do with J Records looking for new strategies than Ed himself or any of the artists. Accessibility is a wonderful thing in a world in which people are commuting three hours a day.
