We finally got high def service from our local cable company here. I've had my Plasma almost a year and have been dying to see high def on it. It came yesterday and all I can say is wow! The only thing I am dissapointed in is that we still don't have very many channels. We get the big three locals plus Fox, ESPN and ESPN2, some music channel, a golf channel, Discovery, and TNT.

My main reason for the post is to ask others with cable, not satellite, what channels you get in high def? I just assumed we would get HD-NET, and HBO-HD, but we don't. I also heard Food Network has an HD channel and that Sci-Fi is coming out with one. Are those out yet and does anyone have those through cable?

When I turn on the TV, I go straight for the HD channels. The only things I watch in SD are the Speed Channel, Comedy Central, and SpikeTV.

As far as quality goes, see if your cable box has an HDMI output (I'm sure your tv has an appropriate input).

The quality is kick ass, I never mentioned that as being a problem. I was just wondering what channels other people get that I don't.

I'm using HDMI, but honestly, I actually work with this stuff for a living and with my TV, which has a native resolution of 768p, it would look just as good with component cables, if not better. HDMI is great if you have a 1080p TV, but even then I can't really tell any difference. IMO, HDMI only makes a difference with Blu-Ray, and HD-DVD because you won't get the pure 1080p signal through component on those machines.
