I decided to listen to this today on a whim. It is a really great performance and I started feeling sad about not having a soundboard of this one. A lot of people may not know or remember this but the band was originally planning on commerically releasing this show as a live album but ultimately decided to make the Live on 2 Legs compilation.
News that a live release would be forthcoming started swirling shortly after the tour was over. Then the record label (Sony) started sending out some promotional materials to record stores and retailers indicating that the working title for the album was "Pearl Jam Live At Constitution Hall" but somewhere along the way there was a change. In hindsight, I am honestly not sure which would have been the better release. L2L is pretty damn good.
Another factoid is that the commerically released version of Last Kiss (i.e. Lost Dogs, Greatest Hits) was recorded during the soundcheck from this show.
For those who have heard or attended 9/19/98, which do you think would have been the better live release? The full DC show or L2L?
Here is a the set for those who don't know or remember. Some nice rarities were played
9/19/98 - Washington, D.C.

any setlist that contains all those yesterdays is superior in my book. plus, i really like this show a lot, so i would take Constitution Hall over LO2L all day everyday.

top favorite show of '98 for me. remember the svcd day's? it was my favorite release. if you haven't seen the video of this .. ya gotta check it out. it's out now on double layer dvd. so sweet!
I haven't seen the video but I remember that at some point during the show someone in the front passed an actual "Yield" roadsign up to the stage for Eddie to sign. It was freaking hillarious! Eddie says something like "How did you even get this thing in here?" or "you could hurt somebody with that thing" or something really funny like that.
That is one of those moments that just can't be fully appreciated from an audio bootleg

I am sure that is possible. In this 1999 interview Jeff says they recorded it at a soundcheck in "Washington D.C." and it was certainly soundchecked at Constitution Hall. http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/pop/fish30.shtml Other band members have also said it was recorded in DC but considering the location of Merriweather (Columbia MD) they could just be generalizing to the region. 9/19/98 is the date I most often credited to both the Last Kiss and Soldier of Love recordings. I am not trying to get argumentative, just wanted to explain why I wrote that.

I understand. I just believe I know when it happened. I was at both shows. I could be wrong. They always referred to Merriweather as DC., which pissed me off. : P I remember it being played on the radio and I remember the talk. Generally, I'm right about stuff like this but I could very well be wrong. I don't always remember right. I'm getting old. Old and absent minded and shit.
Did you ever forget where you were when you were driving and it's a place you drive all the damn time? It's totally fucked up. Ok, 3 hours of sleep 3 days in a row will screw with you but what if it's not that. What if it's something else. GAAAH
