i hate my cat with a passion. i can't take her anymore. she's ruined nearly everything i own, she's ruined my apartment, her motor never stops, she doesn't learn -- you'd think she wouldn't want to do it again after i scold her repeatedly, but no. i obviously made an enormous mistake getting this cat. she's unlike any cat i've ever had before. fuck, she hardly even lets me pet her, or brush her. i put an ad on craigslist and the only people who responded told me to bring her to a no-kill shelter but that waiting lists are very long. is that my only option? goddamnit.

Option 2: sack + river = no more cat

do you mean not rewarding it when it does bad things? playing with it an hour a day and rewarding it when it does well? giving it treats when it lets me pet/brush her? things like that?

-- If kitty becomes too rough in a play session, yell, 'ouch' and walk away. He will soon connect his roughness with the curtailment of an enjoyable play session.
-- 'Time out' works for kittens as well as kids. If he's playing too rough, gently but firmly put him in another room and close the door. Let him out in about 20 minutes.
-- "Scruffing," a method borrowed from mother cats works well for quickly squelching aggressive behavior. Firmly grasp the scruff of the neck and push the cat downwards to the floor while saying "no!" (Never pick a cat up by the scruff of the neck.)

i do all of these. her behavior hasn't changed, though.

You know what "train" means. You just rescued a ruined cat.

i saved it from a kill shelter when she was roughly 8 months old. she's about 18 months now. she had one owner already who returned the cat because "it was way too uncontrollable and hyper," as her sheet read. understandably, she was a young kitten. and she's still sorta young, yes. but i've had cats before and this one is an anomaly. goddamn, i loved my old siamese cat. this thing is nothing like it :(

among other things she does: follows me around the apartment non-stop, begs for food non-stop, always meowing, always scratching, always biting.

in all seriousness, if you have it declawed i am told it will DRASTICALLY change its attitude. but it will never be allowed outside, so know that.

animal rights nuts will demonize you for it, as it is said to be a painfull procedure for them, but the vet said its better to do it when they are young as opposed to older.

Id ask a vet about it right away cb.
