that's pretty neat. i don't think i have ever seen a non musical or movie about music, where both the director and musical composer promote together so much.

I can tell from what I've read so far they do it for self entertaining purposes.

I don't think of this as shameless self-promotion on Ed's part. He so rarely promotes anything, I'm thankful for the few opportunities this film has given us fans to actually see and hear him.
I'm predicting at least a Golden Globe nomination for the score, maybe even an Oscar nod...

What does that phrase "shameless self-promotion" mean? When did it become shameless to talk about work that you have produced and want other people to listen to?
Eddie Vedder and Springsteen are the main examples of shameless self-promotion? So where does that leave the guy who's going on Regis and Kelly to promote the largest ball of string in the world?

I had lunch with my grandma today and she told me out of the blue how much she wants to see Into the Wild because Penn and some of the other cast were on Oprah. She said how it was such a great story and how much the actors had to go through and all that. She has no idea who PJ or EV are, so I tried to hint about how I heard the music is supposed to be great in it, but she didn't really seem to care about that But she loves Charlie Rose, so maybe that will help.

Well, Variety is already predicting that Into the Wild could be this year's Brokeback Mountain. A real sleeper. We'll see, the movie is going to have move more than just movie critics.

"Shameless self promotion?" Charlie Rose isn't exactly Letterman or Leno. Charlie Rose is known for being a great thorough and thoughtful interviewer. Plus, EV is on with Sean Penn. If you think this is shameless you're either 12 or an idiot. Take your pick.

I looked in TV Guide, I see Greenspan is on tonight, then it appears charlie rose is cancelled, because his show never ever again appears in tvguide. Is CR on every night?
I will be taping it. If nothing else I could do a b&p for you. Someone will probably make a DVD like the Iconoclasts show, and I'm sure it will be put up on UTUBE.
edit - I think you can watch it on the web site after it airs.
Great stuff, if all other options fail I will be in touch
