Anyone ever tried this? I can think of a few situations where I might, but most likely I would probably let my folks deal with their own problems unless I had a lot of money and/or outside help.

Really, I don't know how it took so long for someone to make this thread.

My mom is addicted to pain pills, and I know for a fact that she won't ever quit unless she's near death. She's been doing them for so long and built up such a tolerance that she'd probably die without them unless she went to a detox. I've talked to my dad about it and he feels like his hands are tied (she's going to do them with or without his consent). And just so you understand my mom, she'll pop pain pills every hour but used to constantly berate me for my drinking. She's fucked up.

I come from a long line of alcoholics, my dad is on and off the wagon. Lately more on than off, which is good. I think my step-mom keeps him in line, thankfully.

My mom bitched at me as a teenager about drinking coffee- she always told me I couldn't say that I didn't do drugs because of that.. she's pretty clean, as far as I know.

coffee to me is worse than beer and pot. that caffeine is bad for your heart. Plus it fucks up your teeth, and personally it gives me the shits. real bad.

glad there's some spin off threads going on here

Quite the informed claim here.

I'm fairly certain they haven't pinned serious health issues to caffiene use, despite it being a rather widely studied drug from what I understand. Bad for your teeth? Sure? Heart? Probably not.

sorry to hear about your mom Frank :(
opiates are a bitch to get off of...but pm me if you want to know how i did it...it involves a legal herbal substance you can get easily over the internet which eliminates withdrawal symptoms and acts very similar to opiates themselves (but is far less addictive than oxy, hydro, or codeine)
it has been a god send for me...

ps-there is still the potential for abuse and addiction with this but not nearly as severe nor does it have the liver killing toxic acetaminophen aspect of the pills and when your head is cleared you can make more informed and rational decisions...also its nearly if not impossible to OD on...

either way i hope she gets help :)
