Did you see when they had Hawkins son in a phone interview on ESPN? They asked him to impersonate his dad and he was like..."um, let me go shut my door". But he fucking nailed it. It was pretty funny.

I referee intramurals so I'm really getting a kick out of some of these replies.

Hawkins rant was better because it was directed at idiotic parents who wrote the school complaining thier kid got a week less of summer vacation. He was beside himself....It's Football...It's the Big 12....

A whole generation of sissy parents and sissy kids who don't realize they are getting a free 150K education/tutoring, food, living everything for playing football, they don't have to play football, they could pay thier way like everyone else. Hell for that matter if they want more free time they can go play lower level football. His job is based on his ability to get those kids to play as a team and win, they only get 20 hours or so a week, bitching about vacation is retarded even moreso when it's a parent of a college kid who is for all intents and purposes an adult. Cut the freaking cord already.

As for Bobby Reid... it's an opinion piece, if you choose to take a position in the public eye, prepare for criticism. The hilarious thing about that coach is that his rant got everyone in the country to read a shitty newspaper from Oklahoma so she'll get a raise and he's done himself no favors. Her job is to be opinionated. I personally hate the idea that she wrote an article calling this guy soft because he got benched, but she's closer to it than me and obviously it garnered some interest. Still, I love that he protected his athlete and I had no problem really at all with his rant.

i loved Gundy's rant, even if he did come off petulant. i also love how all these media types, including our own local idiot Kirk Bohls, are bending over backwards defending her. the article itself was terrible. i understand the writer is decent at beat writing but terrible with opinion pieces.

some of these media types are so damn out of touch with their readers it's sad.

I didn't have a problem with Gundy's rant. Seems like the whole culture of sports journalism (and even fandom) has become "who can we bash/mock this week". I have no problem with going after the guys who screw up off the field...but every other article seems to be about "who choked" or "who's overrated" or "who's going to get fired".

exactly. the guy I mentioned, Kirk Bohls, used his column as an opportunity to chastise Mack Brown for some actions he took in defending Chris Simms when he was at UT - 5 years ago. give me a fucking break. even when the guy writes a generally positive column, he finds a way to take a swipe at somebody at some point.
