Has anybody watched this? It's probably hard to imagine, but it's probably more sadistic than it is stupid. The entire show starts off with kids carting 40 days of supplies and food on carts which require numerous children to pull them for...quite the disance, a whole days work. They've picked...probably the douchiest kids imaginable, and they have no life skills. I mean, we're 14 and can't cook macaroni, or utilize a can opener. On one hand its amusing, on the other its sick, and on the third it's just so fucking stupid...

Thoughts?

I don't know exactly, the reran it tonight at the time I wrote this though. They totally fucked it up. They're curropting the kids. The adults that aren't supposed to be influencing it have created a tiered system of paying them. So there is essentially social classes. They have this gold star worth $20,000, and they gave one away in the first episode, so now, instead of seeing how the kids would react, they now have two artificial influences. One that has added otherwise non-existant social structure, and the other a false motivator for them to actually band together.

Arg.

I understand the job structure- it gives the challenges some value
The gold star thing however is a giant cluster fuck.

In about a decade, Battle Royale will become a documentary.

I don't. When the show started and they discussed the gold star with the four council kids, I thought, okay, fair enough, interesting. But with the job structure, its really ridiculous. I mean, you have one group that doesn't have to do anything, making a dollar a day. While the last group is cleaning toilets and laboring making five cents a day. The ONLY reason this was done, was to cause division, and to take a cheap shot at capitalism as a whole.

The kids should have left this up to themselves. They should have figured out how to dole out wages, and who was going to do what jobs. This was artificial social order introduced from the outside. If you're going to do social experiments on kids, then you need to do it right and watch the fifteen year olds start purging the 8 and 9 year olds to get all the stuff they want.

I think it's more likely that they did it just to piss off the majority of the kids. This is pretty much how every reality show deals with these things. I really doubt the producers of these shows are trying to make some critique of capitalism.

If this had happened, I might have watched the show for more than 3 minutes.

That's exactly what I thought was going to happen. I was pretty disappointed at how structured and scripted it turned out to be, especially after the promotion of the show went the "No rules .. no adults!" route. But I guess that's what we should expect with "Reality TV."

That was my thoughts exactly. The seond episode was kinda "meh".

I don't understand how these kids can just be...so dumb. No cleverness at all. Except for the kid that got the spicket unfrozen. So far as that challenge goes, why not just work backwards? What a bunch of tards. Why work from the spicket where water is shooting out from and get soaking wet, when you can work on each section in blocks as a team, and hook the entire completed PVC system up to the water LAST and stay dry. Mind you, it looked like it was BALLS cold that last episode. I also don't understand how these groups can sit there, watch the blue team work on different sections instead of having three people working, and everyone else doing nothing, watch blue smoke the crap out of them, and not copy what brought blue so much success.

If would have been there, some yellow team members would have "gone missing" by now. Less mouths to feed that ain't doing anything. Someone needs to shove a dick in the mouth of that little broad that leads the Yellow Team.

I'm surprised that nobody has started complaining about how it's not fair that the groups all make different amounts of money yet.

I've come to the conclusion that they're just not that bright. The only way this'll happen is if they read it in that dumb ass book that told them to eat the chickens, and form teams.

well they are the kids of parent who volunteered their kids up for the reality show, so they prolly are the descendants of the "not that bright"

that fat little girl was right, animals are her friends because you dont get that fat at that young of an age by being a vegetarian.

that little bitch that is the council member for team yellow pisses me off. They should be able to override the challenge and make team yellow the laborers. "We're the youngest!!!" big fuckin deal, its not like they are being asked to mine for coal (yet), its just simple shit like cooking food and washing dishes.

Damn dude you do realize that the girl you're talking about is like 8 years old.... unfortunately my wife likes this show, she's a 4th grade teacher so I think she just likes to compare her kids to the idiots that are on TV.
