My buddy down the hall has this, and I like it a lot. I'm kind of sick of iTunes, so I downloaded Winamp earlier this afternoon. I definitely like the way it works, the style, seems to run a lot quicker than iTunes as well...
Only one thing. I loaded all 10k of my music files into the library to general success, except when I closed Winamp, and subsequently opened it again about a half hour later, all my files were gone. What happened here? Do I need to save the library or something? Someone help me out.
I'm a long-time Winamp user, but I've never bothered much with the media library aspect of it. I dunno why everything would disappear.
Not trying to insult your intelligence or anything, but were you looking at the correct section of the media library when you thought your files disappeared?
Also, in the preferences, in the General Preferences section, make sure "Allow multiple instances" is unchecked. Perhaps you were looking at a second instance of Winamp. I'd take a few minutes to look through the other preference sections, as well. Make sure everything looks a'ight.
well whatever the problem was, I'm not having it anymore.
But no, I've known about it for a long time. It was my first ever media player, used it when I first started downloading music. But that was it though, I only used it for mp3s, never burned any of my CD's to the computer. Then when I got an iPod about three years ago, I burned everything to my computer using iTunes and used that as my player.
So I guess I've come full circle. I do like it way more than iTunes, looks better, seems to move a lot faster. Awesome.

Winamp is vastly superior to itunes in almost every concievable way, but owning an ipod pretty much necessitates using itunes. I need it to manage my library. I really miss using winamp .

Looks like the new version is out now. Quite an update. Has anyone tried it out yet? I'm thinking I might wait 'til the next point release before I take the plunge.
