These are way too good for demos. Are they the actual tracks used in the movie? It seems that people who have seen the movie have said that the versions used in the movie are different than the ones on the album.

What about Hard Sun? I agree it's not a demo, it's a pre-vocal track but was it used in the movie? I don't know. I don't care because I am so happy to have it I'm a pig in mud with my iPod.

the demos have confirmed what has been creeping up on me for a while. This is Eddie's best vocal performance in many many years. He's written better crops of songs (I prefer S/T certainly amongst the post vitalogy catalogue) but in terms of his strict delivery this record is tough to top

It's the acoustic settings. He can use his low register freely. If you go to the opera, you'll notice that the instrumentation levels drop down when the baritone and bass are singing. The low tones are lost when they have to fight to be heard. I've been transcribing the melodies the last few days, and he's using about three octaves. And using them skillfully. He uses the full baritone range now, and I don't believe that he was able to do that back in his younger days.

Hm, we discussed that before. I was closer by about 1/2 octave than you Judging by his speaking voice he probably could explore the bass range to.

I was listening to Vs the other day...and it's striking how much lower he sings most of the songs now! not that I'm complaining :p
and although the smoking (and red wine possibly) might have something to do with it, it's a getting older thing I believe.

It's really shocking hearing the studio version of CRAZY MARY. He sounds like a child on it. I love the low register. His voice is really full and rich. Permanently smokey from all the abuse its taken. Very, very sexy. And he can completely open up his tone on ITW because he doesn't have to scream. He uses that beautiful melody from GUARANTEED so skillfully.

I've seen the film...and yes, these are the versions used in the film...at least for Guaranteed, No Ceiling, and Rise. They are also available to listen to at: http://www.vantageguilds.com/itw/index.html (click on Song). The humming version of Guaranteed is from the Into the Wild soundtrack...the hidden track...is also in the film. Hard Sun instrumental and The Wolf sound like they were ripped from the film...or maybe a video online that has those segments...the instrumental Hard Sun is what plays during the final scene and the credits.
