I was interning at a job in Midtown Manhattan last summer and my boss was a gigantic CUNT. I had to take the job because I needed the credit hours and it was immediately offered to me. The office was really seemingly laid back and nice, but mostly I took it as a last resort for getting the 160 work hours required for the credit.

So one day, the bitch asks me to do a bunch of shit for her: look stuff up online, call some people, organize some stuff. So in the middle of my task, she asks me if I'd called UPS about a package. I said:

"I tracked it online. The package is going to be here today, it was sitting at a warehouse in midtown this morning."

To which this bitch replied: "What? Did you call?"

"No, I tracked it online."

To which she begins yelling, literally YELLING at me: "YOU ALWAYS DO EXACTLY WHAT I TELL YOU. I TOLD YOU TO CALL."

Me: "but you never specifically said I should call-"

"IF YOU DON'T DO AS I SAY I WILL MAKE SURE YOU NEVER GET HIRED IN THIS TOWN. GOT THAT?"

I would have calmly just walked right the fuck out right there, but knowing I had to keep the damn job to finish school I caved-in. "Yeah, I'm sorry. It won't happen again." I was so fucking pissed with this bitch, but I called the place, enter the tracking number, and what the fuck do they say? Of course the same goddamn thing. I told her I would go pick it up at the UPS center for her (mainly so I could go smoke a cigarette and get out of hell). She said, yeah, and then asked to see the tracking number so she could call herself. I'm not even sure if she did it after I had left.

Anyway, she was a fucking psycho but I think she knew this. Sadly that wasn't the only occasion where she acted like that. She chewed out a couple of other people over some real bullshit, and she gave me the wrong directions for uploading a bunch of photos to a server which took me all afternoon - and I had to stay late to correct HER mistake. Another time she had me organize 500 DV tapes which took me all week. She went on vacation to Greece while I worked on them, but it was so boring that I would get online and chat with friends or post here for a few hours everyday since I was more or less unsupervised. I finished, she came back and saw that I was finished and was like, "WOW! You got those done so fast. Good job."

Dumbass ho-bag. I don't even use her as a reference.

Oh yeah, that's the most annoying bastard dog ever.

It barked at everyone and humped this sleeping cat at least 3 times a day.

Yeah, fucking Craigslist.

Not to get into a hugely touchy subject, but she was Jewish. Well another boss I had was also Jewish and a total psycho towards his employees, and I read somewhere that all the people who survived the Holocaust were so wildly stressed out from the experience (yeah big surprise) that it affected their kids and their kids' kids which might be some sort of explanation to her maniacal behavior toward us. I kept this in mind as a possibility so I tried to partially empathize, and I would usually attempt to humor her. Am I totally off-base here?

Mizar in Jet Force Gemini was pretty hard, at least the second time you fight him.

I've only been yelled at by a boss once in the past 10 years or so for which I was not to blame. I bit my tongue and said nothing, and ended up being miserable for a few days afterwards. I made a promise to myself after that that I'd never let another person disrespect me like that again. At the very least, I would yell back to level the playing field.

Nothing I hate more than people who talk down to others and treat them like shit for no real reason. :finger:

You can't prevent it but at least if someone is an asshole, I tell them that was uncalled for, at the most appropriate time and politely.
Only last Monday I just drove off home angry, and it wasn't even my boss but someone acting like he was. I stayed home 'sick' one more day and now it's all solved. At least I made my point. And eventually I'll find another job, and they'll miss me  .
It's a problem of being intelligent: increased chance of someone dumber to be your boss...

groetjes,
Mirella :)

Yeah I'd say you are. What about African-Americans and slavery? What about India under harsh British rule? What about the French being invaded all the time?

I don't know where you read that, but that one helluva exaggerated assumption.
