I was thinking about going to that show actually, but it's too close to christmas to be taking time off work.

Anyways the Orpheum is a great concert venue, I've seen a few shows there. It's just an old theatre, kinda run down from the thousands of shows there over the years. There is a subway stop right out front so drink wherever you feel like in town and just take the subway there. There are a lot of bars and restaurants in that area though. I'm sure a Boston local can advise you on the best ones.

Coach and/or Sunny can probably help you out (both live in/around Boston). Try a PM to either or both and they'll probably set your straight. Good luck.

I've been there a few times. I'm going there tonight actually.

Pray that you'll get good seats. The Orpheum is wicked old skool, so the seating views aren't always the best.

Since the Orpheum is pretty much on Park St, you could walk a bit down to the end of Boylston St. There's some classy stuff over there. Otherwise, you might as well go east over to Fanieul Hall and get shitfaced at those legendary Irish bars.

Orpheum is an awesome place to see a show. Sunny has it right. Your best two options from there are Boylston Street or Fanuel Hall. I'm a big fan of Whiskey's on Boylston St (right across the street from the Prudential Center). And there are a lot of bars right on that strip. Faneuil Hall is also local. It's a little more trendier that way. It'll be more crowded, but there are bars everywhere.

Thanks for the suggestions. Is it best to stay outside of town and cab/bus/subway it in or should we stay in town?

Depends on what your budget is. If you can afford $150-200+ per night then i'd say stay in town. Otherwise you can find some decent hotels out on the subway lines.

I've never been to Boston but a friend lives there, and it always makes me think of The Dismemberment Plan, with their song Ice Of Boston.
Enjoy it!

groetjes,
Mirella :)

I'm Canadian. I think I can handle little ol' boston :)

Looks like I'll be staying in town somewhere. Any good drinking holes around the orpheum?

The orpheum is right down the street from faneuil hall. Shitload of bars right there. That's what I'd recommend.
