two reasons:

1) there is ALWAYS some sort of chocolate or salty snack at the nurse's station...why? because when someone wants to thank the nursing staff for their tender minsitrations, they give them chocolate and cookies and all that hi cal stuff. it is especially brutal around the holidays.

2) after they pass meds and do their treatments, they have to sit and write a bazillion notes about everything they did. so they sit and eat all that chocolate and crap that has been so kindly left for them.
