Here is the trailer folks. Looks as it should....a classic piece of crime cinema. But I don't want to hype it too much or i'll blow it for myself

I'll see it, obviously, because Crowe and Washington are in it, but my expectations aren't too high based on that trailer. It just looks like a rehash of other mob movies with nothing to separate it from the bunch. I hope it's great, but that trailer doesn't look too promising.

the real Frank Lucas was fascinating. This movie looks like it could be pretty good.

My favorite critic Peter Travers (Rolling Stone) gave it 3.5 out of 4 stars. For me, that bodes well as to the quality of this movie.

Has anyone seen this yet? A DVD screener leaked out about a week ago.

You don't like him, Bart? He's easily my favorite (and IMO the best), but that's not saying much nowadays. Him and Ebert are the only ones I take seriously when it comes to movies. I don't always agree with him, but I find him to be the best nonetheless.

I like Peter Travers as well. He explains his positions much better than most. I like reading Roger Ebert's reviews, but my sensibilities are so different from his, that I sometimes feel that we are viewing different films.

The popular critic who's viewpoint is most similar to my own is Kenneth Turan. The reason that I know this is that he is a better writer than about 90% of film critics, and can coherently express his opinions. The worst film critic, A.O. Scott. He seldom actually reviews the film itself. He merely restates the prejudices that he brings into the screening room.

This movie was really well done, and entertaining. I'm not going to compare to other movies because it's irrelevant. Interesting to see Denzel in a role sort of like Training Day again, but not a huge fan of his. No big twists or ridiculous M Night shit. An interesting story, and it kept me watching for the full 2+ hours.
