Had to do it. 2 days from halloween.
what are the best ? worst ? most in need of a sequal / remake ?
My top 10 are:
1. Dawn of the dead (original) 2. Shaun Of The Dead 3. Night Of The Living Dead 4. Dawn Of The Dead (Remake) 5. Return Of The Living Dead 6. Undead 7. 28 Days Later 8. Dead - Alive 9. Cemetary Man 10. Evil Dead II
Is evil dead a zombie movie ? I think so. what else would it be?
I didn't care for Day of the dead, any of the shitty return sequals. Zombie was pretty good, but not top 10.
I think there needs to be another Shaun & the 4th Evil Dead (Fuck the remake without bruce)
I haven't seen 28 weeks later yet, but I'll catch it this weekend.

It was something of a let down.
No Fulci's Zombie/Zombi 2? Blasphemy.
Oh, and 28 Weeks Later is pretty awesome, check that out.

will check out zombie again & zombi 2.
They're the same movie.
Zombie is what it's called in the US and Zombi 2 is what it was called overseas, because they called Dawn of the Dead "Zombi" in foreign markets.

Return is awesome guys, I watched it earlier this month and introduced some people to it. It might be my favorite zombie movie outside of the original Romero trilogy.

I've been seeing this debate lately on a few other sites about the "28 _____ Later" movies not being zombie movies necessarily as the "zombies" aren't the dead reanimated, but live people "infected". Not to mention those live fuckers can sprint like they're doin the 100m. I guess most people think of zombies as the slow moving, slightly decaying types.
Either way, 28Days and 28Weeks were both fuckin awesome movies. I can't wait for the 3rd installment.

I think the 28 Days Later movies are a great example of updating an old concept for modern times and have no problem with them running, since there's a good reason for it, as you mentioned. That's in contrast to the Dawn remake, where they were supposed to be dead and still could run like they're the T-1000.
It's also worth noting that they run, talk, and want to eat brains in Return, but that movie is so over the top it really doesn't matter.

So what do you zombie experts think to be the goriest zombie movie? I'm curious.
dead alive maybe?
It probably has the most splatter and volume, that's for sure. I don't consider it a full zombie movie, but I guess it fits.
I already said that I think the best zombie gore and effects are to be found in Day of the Dead. The body rip, guy getting his head torn off and you can hear his voice box shred, the zombie's guts falling out on Frankenstein's table, the drill to the head..you just can't beat it.
