I'm gonna have to go with "Jungles". It probably uses more vibrant colors than any other segment. I loved the focus on the tree frogs and birds of paradise.

My favorite focus is definitely the great white shark in the "Shallow Seas" segment. Wow.

Why don't you own on blu-ray yet? Believe me, you'll watch this stuff over and over again.

Can't afford one right now. Since the Toshiba players are down to about $199.99, I might get one of those soon.

It's coming on in the next couple of weeks, my wife was just telling me the other day. Not sure exactly when though, just keep your eyes peeled.

A fav is really, really tough though. It's all pretty awesome.

If you don't own HD, is it worth buying the DVD set? I saw it for $80 in Borders and almost picked it up.

The DVD version is good because it has that documentary 5th disc, and also the "planet earth diaries" segments.
For me, nothing will beat the 1080p version (and I watch it in 1080i).

Watch out, those are stripped down models. No 1080p, not deep color, etc.

"Shallow Seas" is the best one of these, it's been sitting on my HD-DVR for almost a year know because I don't want to lose it or have to buy a HD player. The shots of the seals and great whites are among the best things I've seen captured on film.

what is 1080p and 1080i?

1,080 lines of vertical resolution, with "i" standing for "interlaced" or "p" for "progressive". 1080p is what you want, if your TV is capable of it. High def is 1080p.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1080i#1080i_vs_1080p

This scene loses a lot of oomph in YouTube format, but it's fucking incredible nonetheless.

My Plasma's not 1080p anyway, and it's not HDMI version 1.3, so that Toshiba will work great for me.
