That was a good interview...I'm so proud of PJ and Ed's dedication to activism and the environment over the course of their careers, good ethics are so under valued and appreciated in rock music. Whether it be tracking their carbon footprint, checking where the materials come from that make their cd cases and t-shirts, it's definitely an aspect of the band that i really respect. I think it will be a large part of their legacy, and rightfully so.
It also made me pretty sad that he feels like he shouldn't be spending TWO FUCKING MINUTES to speak to the crowd about issues during a gig...Ed's not trying to be a leader of a revolution or a dick, he's just very concerned and considerate.
I loved this part of the interview: 'I wish we could have been more inventive...musically...we've done subtle twists and takes on the whole concept..but there's still room to grow' This is something i've always felt...especially with Ed being big into Pete Townshend and Tom Waits - part of me is just itching for him to stretch and dip his toes into a Rain Dogs or Quadrophenia phase. Mmm.

I say synergy because he mentions the quote being from the lolla time. I think he kept an eye on the at&t censorship thread there and of course the "pic's where Ed looks hot pt.2" one.

Lessie, were you the girl that was stalking Ed some years back??
Don't be a dick. No. What I mean is... and I'll stop beating around the bush... Why would you assume he only reads Synergy? Why would anyone assume that? It's the world wide web. Everything is public. Everything you say on these boards or anywhere else is 100% public. All email has the potential to become public.
That's all. Don't assume. And I've always said this. I used to say on Usenet, "smart people don't avoid the Internet, they use it". I wasn't going to say anything this time. However, you guys aren't as dense as I thought from some of the shit you wrote, so you got it but... really. Smart people don't limit themselves, particularly on the web which is FULL of information. God. I read the NYT every single day.
We feel like we have walls to protect us because we're looking at a box on a screen but it is an illusion. PJ fans have been kidding themselves for years over this. I got over it bothering or inhibiting me (obviously) back in the beginning but I am aware of it. I got over it because we're all just people. It's just people. We are all flawed assholes. So don't let it bother you. Do I write like I worry about this? No. I'm an idiot and I don't hide it. I like to have fun nowadays so I do. Whatever! They're assholes too and say dumb as door knobs stupid shit. I guarantee it because they're just people too.
