one of my favorite instruments. i'd love to learn to play as well, but i have enough trouble with very basic guitar. really wish i had taken up music at a younger age.

Jerry Garcia gave it up after about a decade, saying that one would really need a lifetime to really learn how to play the instrument.

*lap steel. The pedal steel was invented to overcome the main problem with the lap steel: since you play with one bar, you're stuck with whatever tuning you use. Tune in a major key, and every single chord is gonna be major. That's what the pedals are for, to change the tuning of particular strings.

I just bought a lap steel on ebay. Can't really afford it, but fuck it. I have wanted to learn for years, and I found a good deal. It's not like there's a horrible recession going on and I just moved into a new apartment!
