I need a few new books to read. A couple novels, maybe a nonfiction or two. A collection of short stories wouldn't be bad.

I just read "Water for Elephants". I forget who the author was, but it was very, very good.

I'm currently reading "Good Omens" by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Not bad so far.

And I'm about 75 pages into "Never have your dog stuffed" by Alan Alda, and that was already pretty hard to put down last night.

Neil Gaiman is a favourite of mine. My brother sent me "Neverwhere" last year and I read it in one 24 hour period. Really great book.

I personally love crime fiction. Dennis Lehane's 'Kenzie and Gennaro' novels are absolutely fantastic. He also wrote Mystic River which was made into a movie a few years ago.

The Kezie-Gennaro novels are all about two PI's, guy and girl. This is them.

* A Drink Before the War (1994)
* Darkness, Take My Hand (1996)
* Sacred (1997)
* Gone, Baby, Gone (1998)
* Prayers for Rain (1999)

I'm actually a bit concerned at present because Ben Afleck is currently directing his brother Casey as Kenzie in the screen adaption of 'Gone Baby Gone'. I hope they don't fuck it up too bad.

Totally. I think I read Neverwhere in a day or two as well. For some reason, my copy fell apart while I was reading it, but I kept it anyway.

Have you ever seen/ read Mirrormask?

I can't stand either of these authors.
