I have this dvd that won't play on my laptop and I can't figure out why- it will play on a dvd player and it will play on my friend's laptop so I have no idea what the problem is. Anyone have any ideas? I kinda need it to be able to play on my laptop.

Assuming other DVDs play on this laptop, it's likely this is one of those DVDs with stupid encryption built in to prevent piracy. If that's not the case, then the DVD definitely has probably some software that loads before the dvd player loads, thus not allowing that one DVD to play on your laptop. Try opening My Computer, then right-click on the DVD drive and choose "play with powerdvd" (or whatever your video player is).

My laptop doesn't even acknowledge its existence >_< Nothing ever happens when I put it in and Ive tried a million times- but like I said it works in others and yes other dvds and cds work on my laptop

Actually its not the only dvd that hasn't played on it for no good reason :/

so i think that your dvd-drive may be the problem
everybody knows how to burn dvds....
Like you think its busted or what? :/ And ya everyone I know knows HOW to burn a dvd but its not like they have a dvd burner- well the only one I know who would have one is in the hospital right now.

thats interesting, cause in a 3rd world country like mine, most people actually have a dvdburner
