And it really has nothing to do with them. Clearly its me. im not burned out on them cause i just dont get burnt out on music. So thats not it. I listen to tons of music so it mostly always stays fresh for me.
However, I kind of forgot how good they are. HOw much they've touched me. EMO alert. its hard to be objective about pearl jam cause I've been listening to them since I was 10 years old and have seen them 30 times.
I kind of forget why they are above and beyond any other band. Thats too bad really. Like any long term relationship you kind of start to take the mfor gratned at times. Granted, its not really a relationshp since I dont get laid every night. But thats fine...different type of relationship, sure.
Anyways, last night I was feeling kind of emo and I made an on the go playlist of mellow pj tunes. Whilst in bed listening to it It kind of hit me why this band is unqiue and special, and really fucking talented. The following songs:
Indifference, sometimes, release, off he goes, present tense, parting ways, of the girl, nothing as it seems, wishlist, nothingman, all or none, driftin, strangest tribe, wash, dead man, man of the hour, long road, sleight of hand, thumbing my way,, im open, im still here, around the bend, footsteps....
Special tunes. unique, atmopsheric, and beatiful.
man alive.
not too mention they also know how to right a great rock song. But those songs above, and those types of songs the band is capable of writing is what makes them special and unique. End rant.

I couldn't agree more with those songs you listed being really dynamic, fuck you very much. I'm making that playlist and putting it on random... You've just got Neil Yung on ur mind little bitch OR PJ Chat is not a confessional

You kind of touched on this subject in your last post in the matt thread....
I think some people have just lost a bit of faith inthe band cause of avocado> yea, it is avery straight forward rock record and as far as dynamic, mid tempo, emo songs..
They obviously left them off and went a specific route.
Anyways. These are great songs that need not be forgotten.

Avocado renewed mine-- I skipped Binaural AND Riot Act shows (fan club # 147***). I only was saying they chose all the fast paced ones for Avocado so there are probably a ton of great mid-tempo ones like you listed from the Avocado sessions in the archives

Anywho, thats a different thread, ike
Different thread indeed, though those who feel said way need only to remember what putting Binaural or Riot Act on for the first through fourth time was like to be grateful for Avocado's immediacy.
PS I love the atmosphere and mood on Lost Dogs disc 2

Riot act was a good ride for me, still is.
lost dogs disc 2 is damn near perfect for this type of mood and atmopshere that pearl jam is so good at creating. Its definitely a "winter" kind of disc, you know?

Total winter disc. Riot Act certainly grew on me, and I have a strange appreciation for it-- but the first few listens were very disappointing and it took me about eighteen months to return to it to appreciate it. Binaural, the same, and if it weren't for Lost Dogs, my opinion of Binaural would be very different-- as is, I think that was their best session AND what I loved about their show at the Vic-- the mood/atmosphere of the concert, though not captured on the boots--was JUST like the way Binaural sounded

Pearl jam is very sensitve to their environment. This is why sometimes shows can be hit or miss. This is why some shows are the greatest experience to be a part of. i wasnt at the vi, but i imagine the environment was perfect for the type of show, katowice as well...
Those are special, unique. I certainly enjoy those types of shows and i think it has nothing to do with but their surrounding enviornment.
Same with self pollution 98 show. Small intimate little warehouse adn you can get one of the most beautiful versions of wishlist, in hiding and nothingman...

We just had a little emo love orgy. I'm feeling postcoital... Do you like Spencer Krug/Wolf Parade/Sunset Rubdown?

I'm feeling a bit dirty - as if I've been eavesdropping on young lovers.
Nothing to add except that I played your mix whilst enjoying one of my increasingly infrequent evenings browsing RM. Some top class PJ there, but I must say that my allegiance in the main lies in the louder side of things. However thank you for giving me the kick up the arse that I required to take the pleasure that is another listen of the album versions of Release, Indifference, Off He Goes and NAIS. All or None and Wash are always enjoyed and never far from my ears.
The 07/07/06 Long Road to top it off was a treat indeed.
Hows that - a date that I can write and we will all actually agree on it!

Forgot to get 'Light Years' in there. That is by far one of the most beautiful songs they have to offer.

Strat, you need your own thread so you can blog. I suggest changing the title of this thread into "Strat's Pearl Jam Blog" and updating it whenever you've got something important on your mind.

Though more than elated if he chose to do so, I don't see that as his style... Given he's down some on PJ... Lest another megaphone whisper...
