wondered how everyone else was doing with this?

why are you in the latter category? is it something from your past that still haunts you?

it reminds me of the loss of my mom and cat...first christmas without kitty; 2nd without mom. first time away from my family and new york...

just sad. last year was definitely worse though. my mom started getting really sick around this time 2 years ago and the holiday time was spent in the hospital or at home with her not able to even breathe without an oxygen machine....sorry, but ya asked..

anyway, there's this vibe that you're supposed to be jolly and happy and the shit is in your face in every store, media outlet, etc.

so i just wanted to start a thread for those of us who aren't jolly and want a place to express....

well i have to go to the airport tomorrow, and i am certainly not looking forward to that. especially since it's supposed to snow. i have a 2pm flight, i might leave the house at 6am.

holiday season just isn't the same as it used to be- not just about getting lots of presents when I was a kid and whatever- there's something kind of... not so sincere about holidays anymore.

This is the first year, for the past 7 years, that I have had any holiday spirit.

For those who are in the Helldays category, I can relate. Hopefully though, you can grab hold of even just a shred of a happy memory to help get ya through...

Actually I tend to think it was my mom's fault for dying when I was a kid, but you're probably right- I'm sure that was a man's fault one way or another, babe.

Thanks for the insight.

i dont wanna argue about your mother, but that doesnt make sense. how is her dying when you were a kid making holidays feel less sincere now?

well babe, think hard about what makes or made the holidays so great when you were a kid- did you get to see lots of family? I did. Did you get to decorate the house etc with them? I did. Did you get to make cookies with your mom and get that special attention your mother gives you when she's instructing you on how to make sure they don't burn etc? I did.
Were you/are you the baby of your family and come from a family of six kids where your closest relationship was with your mom because your siblings were all too old? I did.
Did your mom act as the glue that keeps the family close and involved with each other only to watch that slowly degrade into removed visits once or twice a year from them at the holidays where everyone is really more interested in getting home to celebrate with their now "real" families?
I did.

Did you stop to consider that maybe you shouldn't be a callous little fuck when it comes to me or anyone who decides to make a serious post simply because you think it's going to get a laugh or spur some kind of retarded argument that really has nothing to do with anything at all other than some vague attempt on your part to get attention?

I did.

You don't want to argue about my mom? ok, but you're cool with picking an argument with me about what I stated anyway, and if that's not an argument about my mom, than jesus - I must be fucking delusional. Seems to me, that exactly what you intended to do, and now you have one.

Wanna go for another?

basically that's it for me. all the holidays seem like fun when you're a kid, then you grow a conscience and realize how retarded they are. i appreciate the paid day off though.

 i love malice

you made it seem like your mother dying is directly related holidays losing their sincerity. but you said your mom died when you were a kid and it seemed like you were saying only recently have holidays began to lose their sincerity, which is why it didnt make sense. is this callous? i didnt think so, i was honestly just confused about what you said.

the first comment was a joke. but its obvious you have a prejudice against young men here, im sure you'll flip out about this post too
