hey guys, as some of you know, I write for a newspaper here on Cape Cod, and am also a columnist. In hopes of finding something to write about that is different than the norm, I decided that I was going to allow the computer to decide my Super Bowl pick, and write a column about what the results are, and I want a very random sample.

So i am asking for some help here. Would some of you be willing to run one, two, three (however many you feel like) simulations on your PS2s, XBox, whatever, and send me the results, or post them here in this forum, by Wednesday (let's say 6 PM).

Here's what you need to do. New England at Philly (computer v computer) in jacksonville. I believe the default is 5 min quarters, and that's fine. I need final scores, qb numbers (ex. mcnabb 14-21, 200y, 1 td, 1 int), rushing figures (total rushing yards, leading runners for each team) and number of turnovers for each team.

I know that this is not a perfect simulation, since NE will have Ty Law and there is no randall gay in the game, etc., plus you cannot account for T.O.'s foot, but i thought this would be a fun excercise and a great column for my Friday edition. I will of course post a link to the column for you guys as soon as it's done.

So what do you say, wanna help a brotha out?

sorry dude, gotta be madden, and most preferable 05.

Guys who are already in, thank you very much. If you know anyone else that might be interested, please go for it, and if you really want to, pass it along the whole freaking internet. The more the merrier, ya know. If we get 10 people to do it, and average 2 simulations each, that's 20 for the average, which will rock, but the more we have, the better the numbers will work out. I just want this to be fun.

JC, will do. I'll use their info as well, but i prefer a hands on approach. Let's call it grass roots, ya know. This will be a fun excercise I think.

yes i'm going to run a few when i get home tonight and then again tomorrow. I'm still at work right now trying to get today's paper to bed, and having an on-going PM conversation going at the same time, while posting on RM. I'd be so freaking fast at this job if I wasn't constantly distracting myself, but then it wouldn't be nearly as much fun.

I simulated a game overnight and I woke up surpirsed to see a 34-7 Philly win! I even put in Owens as the third WR

Philly was denied the shutout with a Brady to Patten 50yard hail Mary with 9 secs left.

Anyways, some stats:

NE
Brady 19-37 157yds 1td 1int
Dillon 8 carries -8 yds!
R.Harrison 9tck 1sack
T.Brushi 8tck 1sack

PHI
McNabb 13-18 164yds 3td
F.Mitchell 47yds 1td
T.Pinkston 49yds 1td
G.Lewis 1td
Nate Wayne: 5tackles and a 75yard fumble return for TD
M.Lewis 5tackles 1int

I'll probably simulate a few more because...I have real issues.

I ran my first simulation overnight, Pats 42, Eaqles 17

Brady 16-26, 255, 3 td, o int
McNabb 17-34, 239, 2 td, 2 int

Dillon 12-88, 2 td
Westbrook 13-37, 0 td

Troy Brown 5-101, 2td
TO 5-116, 1 td

Turnovers, NE 0, PHI 2

21-17 @ half then B. Johnson returned the opening kick in the 3rd for a TD and the Pats scored 21 points in that quarter.

I've run three now, and it's New England 2, Philly 1

It's actually kind of fun to turn on the TV that it's running on and watch a couple of plays here and there. I think I might be going a bit crazy, but it's all in the name of writing an entertaining column

just to keep you informed, this just sounds stupid. philadelphians and chunky soup have no real affiliation except for a succesful marketing campaign.

when the dolphins continually choked, i'm sure dolphins fans weren't asked if they were wiping their eyes with their isotoners.

Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it. I suppose writing another column about whether or not TO will play, or how the Pats are a dynasty, or just breaking down who should win would be so much more interesting.

I'm just telling you if you want to write an interesting column you should come up with something other than this lame bullshit. It's not even an original idea.

It's been done as far as Madden Bowl's go, and it's been done by EA themselves, but I've never read another columnist that did it this way, and you know what, I've had fun with it and I really don't care if someone I've never met, who isn't in my readership to begin with, thinks it's lame. Not much more lame than your screen name.
