when I was about 5-6ish(?) my older-by-one-year cousin got this toy for Christmas called Monster Face. I'm not exactly sure what it really was, other than this giant head that you could do gross stuff to....kinda like a Mr. Potato Head for kids who like gross stuff. Anyway, I was fucking terrified of it. Like, wouldn't even be in the same room. I don't know, but it really fucked my shit up. My cousin told me that his mom used to have to tell him "Your cousin Billy is coming over....you better hide Monster Face."

I saw the ending to the original Terminator at my aunt's house when I was like 4. That fucked me up for a few months.

Dinosaurs. As many other boys of that age, I was obsessed with the fuckers, but playing with my toys and looking at pictures in magazines wasn't very frightening. Then, Jurassic Park came out and for a year or so I'd have nightmares about T-rexes and velociraptors. Also those poisonous things that kill off Newman.

The Basement
Damn straight. I was scared shitless of my parent's basement all my life. Even in my early 20's, I wouldn't go down there alone when it was dark (unless I was drunk, b/c I wasn't scared then). I swear there were ghosts and other sorts of paranormal trickery going on down there.

Especially if the stairs leading down are very long.

I was bassie & adriaans biggest fan (saw them in theatre once, yay) but nothing they showed ever really bothered me. those hamster cheeks and that colourful hat look really menacing tho
oh, WATERSHIP DOWN up until a few weeks ago i thought it was an animated series instead of a movie. i remember watching it every week. now ive realised i watched the movie every week instead of a new episode. those years of nightmares make more sense now.
terrifying film

When i was 4 or 5 my grandmother gave me a pedal-car version of KITT from Knightrider. It talked and everything but i was so horrified by it they had to take the batteries out for me to even go near it.
