In 1996, I taught a kid to play a few guitar chords, lent him my second guitar on weekends so he could practice and learn to play, even let him play on one of my tracks.

Today, he is the lead singer for Spill Canvas, an emo rock band.

I have helped cause emo.

That's what I thought. What makes me mad is he didn't even want to play guitar. I talked him into it. And it's not like "well, it's just some dumb band." They've spent a fair amount of time on the Billboard charts...I've polluted.
