 Post subject: New Adventures in Eric's Hard Drive

As you may or may not recall...
I had to get a new HD because mine took the proverbial massive shit.


I've got the new Seagate installed and working just dandy.

However..

It's making INSANE noises. Clickity, scratchy crazy shit noises. What the hell would cause this?! It's installed properly, obviously, because it's working.

It also seems that my floppy drive has decided it doesn't want to be found.

Is my motherboard cooked? What the hell is going on?!

i dont think you have a bad motherboard, in the fact that a mother board will not make a HD make noise, the HD will make the HD make bad noise.

its possible that you just got a crudy HD.

as far as your floppy drive, see if its showing up in the BIOS

make sure your FDD cable is right side up - i always put mine in upside down at first

yea i did that too, i couldnt figure out why my floppy wouldnt work...but then i realized the problem. you would think that they would make it so it wouldnt fit if you put it upsied down...

Maybe it's possible that I'm trying to talk myself into a new PC? Hmmm.

The FDD cable is good, it wouldn't run when I had it in wrong ;)
