This one looks awesome. Opening soon, with Viggo Mortensen starring as a hardened soldier in the Russian Mafia. Also starring Naomi Watts ( :li: ) and Vincent Cassel - that fruity breakdancing French thief from Ocean's Twelve.
It's getting excellent early reviews, with particular praise for the tattooed Mortensen.

Cronenberg could film a bowl of fruit at one angle for 30 minutes and I'd give it a chance. I'm definitely intrigued.

I had no idea this was a Cronenberg film

You're giving him a little too much credit.

That was more than a bit (purposely) over-the-top, Mwobs. You're not giving me enough credit.

Since there's not much to say about this on until it comes out, I'll rank Cronenburg's stuff:

1. Dead Ringers
2. Videodrome
3. Shivers
4. The Fly
5. The Dead Zone
6. Naked Lunch
7. A History of Violence
8. Rabid
9. Crash
10. The Brood
11. Spider
12. Fast Company
13. Scanners
14. eXistenZ
15. M. Butterfly

I disagree with Spider. For me, that's a movie that should either be at the top or at the bottom, not in the middle. I'd personally put it towards the top.

I like Spider alot, and I might switch it and The Brood, but other than that I can't think of another movie I'd demote in its favor.

You and I obviously feel quite differently about Crash, then. But there's no argument that you nailed the #1 spot.

*For those of you not "in the know", we're not talking about the shitfest that won the Oscar a year back. This is a film about people fucking open wounds. It's much less sickening.

Haha, I gathered. I'm just saying I don't think he's all that fantastic. Not bad, though. Good in many ways.

Great movie, and Mortensen was stellar as 'the driver'. I like A History of Violence, but I liked this one much better.

Did anyone else see this?

Tremendous movie. On par with A History of Violence. Lots of blood but a little too much Viggo dick for my liking. He puts in a very believable performance as a Russian. Really similar in tone to AHOV. However, I did not have subtitles on the divx rip so I may have missed some crucial plot twists. Nevertheless, I would certainly watch it again when it is released. Probably even worth a purchase.
