yeah, thinking about it I can't think of a live version of this that has ever done much for me.
E. Troy '03 was pretty great, but I don't know how it would translate to tape. It was the longest day of the year, and the band came on before the sun had set, the stage faced west, and so the last light of a perfect summer day was on the stage. It was the perfect song for the moment.

it was! and i missed most of it. Was up on the hill, didnt know the show started at 7 rather than 730 so when we walked in the buzzcocks were already done. We thought they hadn't started yet. Next thing you know the crowd goes crazy, sometimes start, and i take off running to the 5th row.
Also, the minneapolis 98 version is great...I love sometimes as an opener.

Dallas '98 was good, but the boot doesn't give it justice. Last Exit follows, then Hail Hail and Brain of J. Interesting, when Last Exit begins, the drum beat or the guitars, and I've been noticing this a lot lately with middle period boots, the crowd doesn't give love and applause. Now, a bit more so, but then, it doesn't seem like this was a beloved song....

It's not a song that stands up well to live performance for me. Seen it too many times i guess. first world complaint, but it works so much better on the record.
It's a little atmospheric beauty on the record though so 3.5 stars.
