you have to be willing to fail at being clutch, sounds obvious but a lot of athletes aren't

most players clutch abilities are overstated really. Not a big enough sample size

Neither, in my humble opinion. "Clutch" comes through in many other things; school is an example. I actually strive a little on clutch, since I manage each semester to have a class I'm backed up in that I have to finish in a very short amount of time or study for a final over chapters of unlearned material in only a day or two. Even during my math tests, there's tricky problems that force you to either come through in the "clutch" or not. PROVIDED YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO IT, the "talent" for clutch is really a choice: do your best or let the overwhelming pressure get to your head.

You have to be tested. People that are coddled and have easy lives can't come through when it counts. You can only surmount hard times when you've been through them.

ah, ya just gotta be born with it.
but really, i think it all comes down to pressure. how you handle it. do you crumble or thrive under it? i love the pressure, whether its in a card game i'm losing or a board game or sports or school...doesn't matter. i love when stuff reaches that point where its do-or-die.

now if only i had the ability to hit a mariano rivera cutter 421 feet. then i'd be clutch.

well in the context of the rest of my post that was to be understood.

...and even though i can't hit a rivera cutter, i'm still clutch. 8)

hitting any cutter 421 feet before the 7th inning and without being down a run with a man on, two runs with two men on, or three runs with the bases load, or in a tie game with any amount of people on really isn't clutch, i'm just saying.

I've never seen Rivera in a game before the 7th inning. And again, I'll point to my previous sentence:

I love when stuff reaches that point where its do-or-die.

so many exceptions to this it's not even funny.

well if you hit it off rivera when nobody was on base and he was in protecting a 9-5 lead with two outs in the bottom of the 9th inning, it wouldn't be clutch.

Alex Rodriguez was born in the Washington Heights section of New York City. When he was four, Rodriguez moved with his parents to their native Dominican Republic. After the family moved to Miami, Florida, three years later, Rodriguez's father announced his intention to move back north to New Jersey for a short time. He never returned, abandoning Rodriguez and his mother.

right. i mean, four guys in a row could hit a solo home run at that point, but the only one that would matter would the the one that tied it.

When your team has been killed 3 games in a row by the Yankees and all hope seems to be gone yet you get two game winning hits leading your team to a impossible comeback and later a world championship...Thats clutch
