I'm going through all these lists downloading the albums I haven't heard yet. And I'm still wondering if there was something produced this year that wasn't complete shit.

Come on. Deerhoof, Deerhunter, Zeitgeist, Neon Bible, Battles? What a fucking shit year.

littlewing's musical tastes are seemingly about as on target as his political leanings.

Dude, this year was the best of the decade as far as I'm concerned. No masterpieces, but quite a few really great albums, and handfuls of good ones.

Wait wait wait...

So because it's one of the best of the decade...means that's it's good...HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!

This decade has been full of shit music. The irony of it all, is that all this shit music gets heralded by all you fucking douchey hipsters, and in three or four years gradually begin you realize that it sucks. And in five or six years you're busy trying to remove all traces of evidence that you were fans to all this shitty, shitty music. I could dig up so many old threads where the illuminati in here were touting bullshit like the Killers, Snow Patrol, the Shins, My Chemical Romance and all that heinous bullshit... Now do we speak of that shit? Nope... Do those bands matter now? Nope...

Are we all still in love with Sufjan Stevens? Just for curiosity's sake?

Image

What are his plans for 08 other than lots of butt sex? Maybe he'll make a homoerotic blathering piece of garbage that all you people can hail as the best thing ever like you did with his last shit record. I mean, let's face it, Sufjan is to hipsters what Tool is Tool fans. Both could pretty much just shit in a box, stamp it as music, and you'd all think it was brilliant.

But back to this year - don't want to get ahead of myself. Although, I am eagerly awaiting his next record.

At best, the records that dot these lists are drab, boring, uninspired, horribly pretentious, and have no replay value whatsoever. I REFUSE to make a best of list this year. Refuse to. Because there isn't a single fucking record on these lists, that I've listened to(and I've hit a lot of them at this point), that are worthy of being on any best list of anything. Except maybe the years best bullshit.

Battles? Gimme a fucking break. How about something with some replay value people. In all sincerity, if you actually find yourself listening to that disasterous mess of a record by Battles for a second time, or find yourself actually saying "Wow, I really like this! This shit should become the next craze, I wish everyone else would hear this," then you should probably go see a doctor and get an MRI to ensure you don't have a tumor, or brain aneurysm. But I'm pretty sure that only hipsters listen to this so as to retain legitimacy within the hipster community. Deerhoof? What the fuck man? Deerhoof blows people. What reasons are there for listening to Deerhoof. Of the HUNDREDS of great CD's you could listen to that have been produced throughout history, why the fuck are you listening Deerhoof. Gimme a good reason. Zeitgeist fucking sucked people. Get over it. IT'S A DISASTER! Billy Corgan said ten years ago that guitar rock was dead. Then he came back and did a shitty guitar rock record, which NO SONG on ranks to anything on Gish, Siamese Dream, or Melloncollie. Rainbows...is painful to listen to. Granted, I'm not huge on Radiohead, I think they are hit or miss. But I have ALWAYS been able to listen to their records through and through. Rainbows is so long and painful, that I still can't honestly say that I've gotten through it all. A few songs a sitting is about all the average human being can take without trying to hard to fit in with their fellow Pitchforkers. The Animal Collective? I mean, THE ANIMAL COLLECTIVE! Just admit it, fifteen years ago you wouldn't have listened to that half ass sleeper bullshit. No fucking way. Panda Bear fucking sucks people. Say it with me: "Panda Bear sucks." There is no reason they should be playing anywhere else other than Starbucks with Sufjan. And in all seriousness. Neon Bible? What the fuck yoo-hoo's. Look, Arcade Fire was billed as the best thing since sliced bread when Funeral came out. THEY WERE, to be the reevival of good music. But lo and behold, it's just mediocre bland rock. And shockingly, it has paved the way of more disasterously boring and uninspired half assed rock, with a lil twist, that is being touted as actually good because music is so devoid of actual pure talent. And ya know what? Neon Bible is EVEN WORSE than Funeral! I never thought that Arcade Fire could achieve a new level mediocrity, but they did it! Wilco? Come on. Wilco's done. Done before they even got started, and I'll admit, they at leat ALMOST got started with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Unless of course you're a hipster and you're trying too hard, then you think Wilco actually matters or something for some reason. The parts worth listening to on the new record are completely overshadowed by how whiny and bitchy it is. Just once, maybe Wilco's testicles will descend, they'll throw out the pretentious bullshit, and just make a good fucking rock record. But who cares, all these bands will be forgotten in five years anyway. And in all seriousness. Anyone who put the Arctic Monkey's on their list has absolutely no credibility whatsoever when it comes to music...

90% of the bands in these lists wouldn't have even been considered by anybody at peaks of musical history. So why waste your times making best of lists when it's all average bullshit.

In 2012, I'd be willing to bet that 95% of the music listened to in this thread, will NOT be listened to by any of you.

BECAUSE MUSIC WAS SO FUCKING SHITTY THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ya know, I was overseas for the first six months, active duty until June, on vacation most of the summer, so I've had a busy time catching up. I've followed the threads closely, earmarked which bands to check, what records to prioritize, and it's just one dissapointment right after the other. You people will talk up the most HEINOUS BULLSHIT!

Da fuck are you talking about? You named like 8 bands in your post and talked about Sufjan for half of it.

Do you really want me to hit up your list? Do I need to talk about every band in every list?

Did you guys actually create original lists? Or just pic your favorite best of list from your favorite pitchfork critic?

Out of all the hundreds of bands Pitchfork reviews/promotes on their website, even a measly few can't possibly be any good.

You're just bitching to bitch and not offering an alternative. I mean I'd expect this from Buffalohed but that rant was totally out of left-field.

I love the Battles cd :( I agree with a lot of the other ones Little Wing said though.

Ripping on bands is okay, but why not have something to show for it? That post was completely tactless, to which I say, big fucking surprise considering who wrote it.

Hey asshole (or dude, whichever you prefer)

hit up my list. I'm serious. Please don't try to only focus on the Deerhoof album, you already got that one. Also, please try and include the fact that I am listening to heavy metal indicates my base immaturity, if you would.

Love and kisses,

Echoes.
