i think i only saw gone baby gone and knocked up, with the former being much better than the latter. unless we're counting children of men, which would top my list.

I'm depressed about how few movies I've seen in the theater this year. This has definitely been a dvd year.

Still need to see:
There Will Be Blood No Country for Old Men Sunshine Charlie Wilson's War American Gangster The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford I'm Not There Diving Bell and the Butterfly Gone Baby Gone Atonement Into the Wild Sweeney Todd Inland Empire Eastern Promises I Am Legend Juno Bourne Ultimatum 3:10 to Yuma Darjeeling Limited

1. Grindhouse - took the lead early for me, and while there might have technically been better films made this year, this one was far and away my favorite, a trash spectacle for the ages. Hurry up and get us the theatrical cut on dvd already Weinsteins.
2. Hot Fuzz - they didn't top Shaun of the Dead for me, but this is probably as perfect a follow-up as anyone could have hoped for. Hilarious, tight script writing, lots of giallo references and loads of action fun. What's not to love?
3. Zodiac - This movie seems like it's been forgotten by many critics since it was released in March, and it's a shame. One of the best films of it's kind, I can't wait to pick up the 2 disc dvd next week.
4. No Country for Old Men - I wasn't expecting this movie to stick with me the way it did, but here I am over a month later, reading the book and salivating at the chance to see it again.
5. Superbad/Knocked Up - Let's hear it for laughing our asses off for 2 hours straight and the return of comedies worth shelling out $8+ for at the theater. It had been a while.
