Abortion has been dropping since 1988 regardless of the President.
In either case Bush II's initiatives don't seem to have sped up the drop in pregnancy OR abortion.

I think it has to do with poverty rates...less poor people = less abortions

I'm not sure if there are less pregnancies by way of not being able to afford children (although the overall birth rate, I think, has decreased as more women work and choose to have only one or two children, or none, versus more).
Maybe it has to do with fear of AIDS (increased use of condoms)? More condoms = less pregnancy & less abortion?

I don't think you can take a graph like this use it for debate about what the President has done to affect either. His influence is so minimal that it's not really part of the discussion.

I don't think you can take a graph like this use it for debate about what the President has done to affect either. His influence is so minimal that it's not really part of the discussion.
I like that perspective. A lot of public health employees work all day, every day to increase condom use, safe sex, and family planning.
