Can someone tell me what the fuckin' story is with dividing up a single season into two for DVD releases. The first time I'd seen it was with The Osbournes. The DVD sets were Season 2 Part 1 and Season 2 Part 2. I think they did it with Season 1 of Heroes, too. What's the rationale here? Just to shaft fans of cash? If a season is divided into 2 boxed sets for the DVD release, is there a big gap between the last and first episode when they originally aired? Anyone with a clue, I'd be glad to hear from ya.

I might be off in my answer here, but some shows come on in September, do there first part of the season, then take a break, then come back sometime in the spring and finish up during the Sweeps period (when they figure out advertising fees or something, by ratings, so the networks put their finales then). They usually don't release the previous season's dvd set until right before the new season (sometime in summer or Sept). So they might release the first part of the dvd set earlier so people don't have to wait until the next fall, especially for a show like Lost or Heroes when people might want to watch up for the second part of the season. Usually they rerelease the whole set as one volume later and you don't have to buy the split volumes.
I hope thats all accurate because I'm just guessing.
This is about the only explanation I can come up with, I mean because it's not like they air the first part of a season between (September and December). Then release that part in January or February. Then come back airing the second part between (March-May). And release the second part on DVD in the summer or right before the next years season begins.
Just to make more money, is the answer that I'll stick with.

They pull transparent, cynical, money-making stunts like that and wonder, flabbergasted, why people download. Cunts.
