If you want Drum beats along with electronic sounds I'd say go with Reason. If you want just drums go with Drum Kit from hell, both sound good but DKRF sounds more natural.

A lot of people in the cover contests use fruity loops...they are too complicated for me cause I don't read directions and couldn't figure it out just by playing around...

yeah...this is what i need too. something that's intuitive and easy enough to figure out my messing around, I don't feel like reading an 80 pages pdf on how to program a 4/4 beat.

Yeah Reason is the best. But it does have a steep learning curve.

I've been looking for free drum software, but most programs look like they are for linux. I found one though, Hydrogen, that is also available for Windows and MAC.

Haven't downloaded it yet, personally. Looks pretty decent though

I have had okay results with Drums on Demand. They have like 9 or 10 CDs you can buy. They're just loops and it makes them really easy to use. I just insert or cut and paste them into Cakewalk.

There are three tracks here that I used them on.

Those samples sound really good. I might go this route. Did you buy those Drums on Demand cds online or at a store?

Thanks.

They are limited though. Each set of loops comes in a preset BPM.

So far it hasn't been much of a hassle because there are lots to choose from.

This is where I got them.
They come in multiple formats and I'm pretty sure I got the 16 bit wavs.

I have to say Self Polluted- I really enjoy your samples. Are you doing this all yourself? The guitar playing is very tasty. A tip of the hat to you..
