So since realizing that I can more or less beat this game in my sleep(I've beaten it like 15 times in the last week.) I was wondering, what is the record for the quickest time beating it? and can I break said record?

Doesn't work for me, I get Mplayer error messages (in the IE window), and I don't even have Mplayer installed!

Maybe that's why you get error messages.

Ah, the magic of save states.

There's one out there for SMB3, as well.

Green Habit speaks the truth. Those were accomplished with an emulator using save states, so the player didn't have to worry about dying and starting over.

Still, if you watch SMB 3 one, that guy is still damn amazing even if it was made with save states. That shit blew me away.

I have a friend who can beat Mario1 (w/ warps) in under 8-9 minutes. I've seen him do it twice, and other people have seen him do it many times. Its quite the sight to see.

Me personally, I take a while. My NES didnt come with it

It takes thousands of saves to complete these things. These people truely have no lives. You can read more about it on this site:

Even with the save states, how the hell did you kill a flying koopa trooper from underneath?

You don't need to land on the top of an enemy to kill it. As long as you're moving downward as you hit the enemy, you'll kill it. If you time it just right, sometimes you can even hit the bottom of the enemy. This is useful for killing enemies that seem to be too high to jump on.

When I was in 2nd grade, I played this game like mad and I rejoyced when I finished it. I remember sending my picture to Nintendo Power, which was just a newsletter at the time.
