Has anyone used this or other ticket websites for sporting events? If I wanted to buy tickets to a Red Sox game in June, is it smart to buy them now, or wait until these season ticket holders actually get tickets in hand?

I bought tickets to 2 Rangers game before the season started with Stubhub and had no problems whatsoever.

It's safe as can be, as long as you don't mind being ripped off.

Stubhub is fine, I'd check Craigslist or Ebay first though

I recently used Stubhub for the first time. Tix came pretty quickly...big markup, but cheaper than ebay or craigslist at the time I bought them.

Stubhub doesn't actually have the tix in their possession...they're shipped directly from the ticketholder.

stubhub can be kind of high with the experience i've had searching for concert tickets, but on the other havd they seem like a very reputable business and you shouldn't have to worry about getting scammed with them.

i overpaid for some seahawks/raiders tix last year, but i bought them through StubHub because they have a guarantee you won't get scammed...which was more important to me than saving a few bucks

i got tix to a cubs game thru stub-hub (while i was in in town for the vic theater show). I ordered a ticket about 4 days before the game, and I was able to pick up the ticket in person at a stub-hub office about 2 blocks from Wrigley Field. So sometimes they do have tickets in hand, if it states something like 'last minute pickup available'.

but i had no problems at all. picked up my ticket about 2 hrs before game time.

buy tics off stubhub for 200 a pop, or off scalpers for 20 a pop

I have used Stubhub several times, and have never had a problem receiving the tickets in time, or not getting them.

I needed 3 tickets to a home Dodger game last year over Memorial Day weekend. I could have got 3 worse seats from Ticketmaster and paid more than I did by buying 4 better seats and eating one ticket through Stubhub.

Be careful of prices though...some people are season ticket holders just trying to unload tickets they can't use, others are really trying to screw you price wise. Depends on where you're looking to get tickets. A Red Sox/Cubs/eternally sold out game ticket is going to cost you through the nose. A ticket to a home Rays game should be dirt cheap.
