[rant] I've been sick since the week before Christmas. Headaches and body aches, No energy, I can't focus on anything and I can't eat. I went to the Dr last week and found out I lost 10 pounds. She says I probably have mono, but ran a whole mess of blood tests anyway. My weight freaked me out so this weekend I stocked up on junk food - taco bell, chips, dip, fattening salad dressings. . . I'm still not eating any MORE, but I'm eating way more CRAPPY. Today I get the tests back. No mono. It's also definitely not diabetes (good, cause i cant even spell it),Anemia or my Thyroid. However, the tests DID back positive for antibodies for Lyme Disease. I've never been bit by a tick to my knowledge, and I never had the rash. Apparently Lyme gets misdiagnosed often, so she's sending me to a specialist for MORE tests. I've also lost two more pounds. In one week. I am now officially 88 lbs.
If it IS Lyme Disease, I'm looking at at least a month of treatment before I start to feel better, and possibly a hospital stay for IV antibiotics. If it ISN'T, I'm looking at even MORE tests and I may actually shrink away into oblivion before I get better. I am friggin miserable, and I'm afraid that me being sick, tired, and making a lot of annoying little mistakes - is going to lose me ANOTHER. FUCKING. JOB. I haven't taken any days off . . . but like I said, I'm having trouble focusing and my short term memory is like, non existant. I thought it was because I was so tired, but it could be from the LD that I maybe have. Or not. I am God's favorite sitcom. [/rant]

Sorry to hear that you're so sick...... have you been checked for Crohn's?
Although Crohn's would account for the weight loss, it wouldn't really account for the inability to concentrate and the loss of short term memory. Plus her stomach and bowels would be causing some pretty intense pain.
See if GD can get House on the case.

its probably lyme. try to research it a lot and be careful about what your doctors tell you. a lot of doctors don't really know that much about it and some of them are very dismissive and don't give patients the proper treatment. be sure to get it sorted right away because it can ruin your joints permanently, as well as other averse effects. also, not everyone tests positive for it, it can be difficult to get a positive test sometimes. i've known people that had lyme disease and got jerked around really badly by their doctors.
also, the ticks that give you lyme disease are the little tiny size of a pindot ones, so its hard to even notice.

Thanks. I've read up a little so far, but it's kind of overwhelming. WebMD says symptoms in the 'later stages' include headaches and neck pain, which I've been popping Advil for for the last 2 weeks or so.
I do have sick days, but I've also only been with the company 4 months. I'd rather not be taking advantage just yet.
I know the ticks are super small, but it usually causes a pretty distinctive rash, which I never got. So there's still a chance I go to the Infectious Disease doctor and find out it's not Lyme, either, and then I STILL don't know why I feel like death.

cha, stocking up on shite food, not a good idea. 88lbs is pretty bad. One thing you can do is pop 1 high potency multivitamin a day. At least this way, your body is still gettin some of the essentials. And just go nuts on the water. It's not a perma fix, but it'll keep things steady until you get diagnosed right.

Chah, eff that *takes another bite of taco supreme*. See, the thing is, I can't eat a lot at once right now. And another thing is, I tend to eat a lot of SUPER healthy stuff - veggies, lean cousines, etc. If things keep going how they are, i'll disappear soon!!!
Edit: But seriously, thanks for the advice on the vitamins and H20

Drink lots of beer. It's fattening, and you'll get drunk in probably 2 minutes. You can't lose.
I don't like beer. And I've never been drunk.
What I really wanted was a cheeseburger kids meal and a vanilla fucking shake. Unfortunatly, so did about 760 other people because Burger King was so fucking crowded I couldn't get into the parking lot. So I had to settle on either tacos, or a $10 saladworks salad I'd never be able to finish.

hey Nat sorry you're not feeling well before you mentioned LD thats exactly what i was thinking....i had it over the summer and luckily got the rash (not everyone does) and had someone else i ride with thats had it twice tell me to go to the doctor for it...it started with a fever and body aches then after i started antibiotics a week or two later i could barely function i was so fatigued...then another week or so and i was better...if you dont catch it early they have to do more invasive treatments like the iv etc... and from what you said along with the positive test im 95% sure you have LD and it will prolly take awhile (6-12 months sometimes to get back to 100%) but you will get better eventually so hang in there get your other tests done just to be sure and think positive and eat well not taco hell!! *leaves RM and goes to taco bell* mmmmmmm...chicken burrito supreme

Does your employer offer short-term disability? If so, you can take a set period of time off do to injury/illness, and still receive a portion of your pay.
Also, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) may come into play. You are allowed (by law) to take up to 12 weeks of work off "for a serious health condition that makes the employee unable to perform the employee's job." You can take this time, and by law, the employer cannot give your job away permanently.
