Was just chatting with a friend online who works for Capitol records. He was telling me that there a lot of checks from Epic that Eddie has never cashed, and that these checks are becoming almost legendary in the industry because apparently they're royalty checks and they've been accumulating for quite some time and come out to a substantial sum of money. I'm curious why he wouldn't cash 'em and put them to a good cause if he's protesting, why let them keep their money??? Given I'm not sure the details and what it's all about or if it's total bs urban legendary, but it's interesting... good 'ol Ed.

Is it possible that there is nothing more to this than that Ed is very disorganized?

(aren't check valid for a limited period anyway, like 6-months or 1 year? he could get them re-issued thoguh)

If he's owed the money, yeah. And we forget something. Assuming this is true (which is a long stretch because this is an Internet message board, home of freaks and fanatics myself included - after all Ed wrote a song against me... which cost him an Oscar - I'm not really clear on this. I missed a casting call or something. He really shoulda called. I woulda come. Anything for a buck), there's likely a very good reason - to him - for him not to cash them.

Some people (unlike me, see casting call above), aren't all about the money.

California has a list of unclaimed property on the Controller's website, as I'm sure most states do. The only thing is, a lot of people don't even know the list exists, because state officials don't really promote it all that well. Celebrities appear on the list. Hell, even the Governator was on there at one point. The real funny thing is that at one point, the actual Controller's office was listed on the website as having unclaimed property.

So, Eddie might not even know he has uncashed checks.

I actually believe that it's probably just a legend passed on from other people. Remember the telephone game when we were kids?

Checks expire a year after they are dated.

I was immediately reminded of that episode of Seinfeld with all of the uncashed checks from Jerry's nana.

because of eddie's superior understanding of the market and international finance, he is withholding from cashing the check until the dollar improves in value

I can think of at least half a dozen reasons for this. None of which includes eggs of any origin.

i'll try again.
it's probably that he just changed address..as far's i know ed doesnt have a personal accountant, so i'd imagine he just gets them sent to his own house or Curtis Management.
Was the split with Epic amicable does anyone know? one wonders..
