I'm pissed. I'm covering Wednesday's game for the Baylor paper and was going to get to ask Knight a few questions for posterity's sake. Of course he fucking retires two days before I get the chance.

Old bastard.

That sucks, closest I came was interviewing his friend that used to coach the Womens team at Indiana... about a year after they both were fired.

One hell of a basketball coach. I'm partial to Dean Smith. But Bobby Knight knew basketball.

not that surprising to me. he's been grooming his son for this position for years.

Bob's rationale was to give Pat some hands-on experience with the team and let the players acclimate to his style this season so they didn't have to start fresh at the beginning of next year. I guess he figured this season was a throw-away anyway.

For some reason this whole thing feels like an angry dictator handing the reigns of his mighty empire over to his pussy-whipped son.

I met Coach Knight when I was a kid at his basketball camp. It was right after Len Bias died. He didn't talk much to us about basketball but he talked all about what happened to Bias. Called him the second best player he had ever seen after 23. Told us all to study hard and finish school and stay away from drugs. Didn't yell or swear once. I thought he was great.

His assistant's and players ran a great camp.
