Yea I caught this from the link on Aintitcoolnews early on Tuesday. I'll admit it looked fairly intriguing by that teaser, but is this not one of the worst titles you've ever heard? You know what it makes me think of? That scene in "Man On The Moon" where Kaufman's SNL bit is reenacted in the skit where he's out with his friends but they're all stoned, and Kaufman breaks the fourth wall complaining he can't "play stoned", and when they cut to the commercial break the one producer tells the audience "You've all just been witness to a happening!"
It's like the lamest, weakest way to describe something having transpired.
Having said that, and not to go off on a tangent, I'll freely admit that I enjoyed "The Village". I just mention this because I know there's always been a lot of downright loathing for it. And I saw it WAY after the fact. Finally caught it on video a couple years ago, and miraculously I'd always remained ignorant of the big twist (which I didn't really see coming at all). So yea, I realize that M. Night's detractors say, among other things, that he relies too much on the big twist in his storytelling, but I considered "The Village" two perfectly fine hours spent.

I was fine with The Village. Don't care to see it again though.

Unbreakable is still probably his best.

God bless his little heart he tries hard to be like Alfred Hitchkock. I give the man that much. That and at least he writes his own material. That's rare.

But he's a bad writer. That's most of the problem. If he didn't insist on being such a wannabe auteur, he might have a shot at making a decent movie.
