In mine it's a murder case, right now. Tonight a TV program will 'reveal' the murder case of an American girl (Natalee Holloway) on the island of Aruba in 2005. I guess half of the Netherlands will be watching this show . The main suspect's (Joran van der Sloot) Hyves page (like MySpace or Facebook) is flooded with messages of all kinds.

Yes, tonight there will be a 2 hour 'documentary' on TV here and it will be huge in terms of numbers of people watching... It's all over the news since the announcement of this last week or so.

The Dutch media has always been on top of the Holloway story, but the main attraction as of late has been Joram van der Sloot himself. He's been doing the talk shows, writing an autobiography, running his dumb mouth to strangers who tip off the press, who in their turn have a field day with the 'hot info', etc.
Ever since Joram returned to the Netherlands he's been hungry for attention. I heard from people who heard from people (blabla) he's been going around using his 'status' and story to pick up girls. Which wouldnt be entirely unreasonable if he were famous for any other reason than being accused of rape and murder.
So yeah, missing rich white girls. Guess what the biggest news story of 2007 was according to a nation-wide Dutch poll... Yep, Madeleine McCann.

yep, the public just eats up missing pretty white blond girls. go to youtube and search for maddy mccann. there's ALL kinds of "tribute" vids made by people that have never met her.
