Rupert Murdoch's new finance channel just launched its Web site, and it lends a little insight into what the network will be offering up when it launches on October 15. Namely, foxy young broads!* Almost all of the on-air talent that's plugged on the site are skinny, youthful beauties like Shibani Joshi (a former model in India), Cheryl Casone (a former flight attendant), Jenna Lee (she played Division One softball in college), and Nicole Petillades (she loves slalom waterskiing!). And the best part is some of the foxy young broads are dudes! Reporter Colin McShane (he has 45 first cousins!) is a total DILF, and Cody Willard (he writes songs for a band called Museum of the Horse) has the glorious eyes and hair of a young Jennifer Connelly. Needless to say, we cannot wait until this network debuts. We want to see how long it will take them to fire Neil Cavuto for not being "leggy" enough.
* Every one of these "foxy young broads" is extremely well qualified as a hard-working journalist. We're just trying to imagine why Rupert hired them.
seriously, go to http://www.foxbusiness.com, skip the intro and click on the people. the bios have photos.

The News Corp.-owned NYPost writes about a wardrobe function at CNBC.
February 4, 2008 -- THE suits at CNBC are said to be so worried about their blonde Fox Business Network competition that they've brought in a new wardrobe stylist to re-dress their anchorbabes, an inside source reports. Gone are the business suits that on-air cuties Becky Quick, Erin Burnett and Michelle Caruso-Cabrera used to wear. "All of a sudden, they wear nothing but form-fitting V-necks in bright colors and they've gotten all new clothes," said our source. "Pants are no longer relevant." A CNBC rep said, "Not true. No wardrobe change."

i wonder. apparently they're trying to get around getting wsj people on the channel now, which i guess there was a stipulation in the contract they couldn't or something ... i'll try to find it. the whole channel is a joke. i had a chance to join it with a very bright future but turned it down.

Loophole For Wall Street Journal-ists on FBN?
Silicon Alley Insider's Michael Learmonth reports about the possibility that FBN might have found a loophole that will allow their new colleagues from The Wall Street Journal to appear on the network.
CNBC's deal with The Journal is supposed to give the NBCU network exclusive rights to WSJ talent through 2012. But at the Always On Conference in New York Tuesday, FBN EVP Kevin Magee said, "There are some restrictions. We can't just go ahead and use anything. I believe the restrictions involve regularly-scheduled, branded segments. There is a carve-out for non-business news and there is a carve-out for breaking news."
A CNBC spokesperson tells TVNewser, "CNBC has a 15-year agreement with Dow Jones to provide news content. It expires in 2012. We expect the relationship and quality of the relationship to continue through 2012."

whoever they get to add analysis is not going to help them......I used to like to read Cody Willards column in financial times but he is possibly the worst host in tv history...its embarassing to watch really
We know several people who watch the Fox Business Network, but that's because all of them appear on the newly launched cable channel from time to time. The rest of America, it seems, is soundly ignoring News Corp.'s newest offering: Nielsen says an average of 6,300 people a day watched FBN in the first two months of its launch last fall -- a little more than 2% of CNBC's audience of 283,000.
Nielsen doesn't officially track FBN, but both Fox and CNBC pay for private data on the channel, and someone (any guesses?) leaked the numbers to the New York Times. Tons of caveats here: CNBC is carried in 3x as many households as Fox is; the numbers for both networks don't reflect workplace viewing; we don't have numbers to compare Fox News or CNBC's launches, so it's hard to put FBN's stats in context.
Early ratings for Rupert Murdoch's Fox Business Network have materialized, and the news isn't pretty. According to Nielsen Media Research, about 6,300 households on any given weekday are tuning in. Compare that to the 283,000 watching rival network CNBC. The number is so low you won't hear it officially from Nielsen researchers, because it doesn't meet their minimum standards for reporting. While it's still early going and Fox only reaches about 30 million households compared to CNBC's 90 million homes, the numbers aren't pretty.
Roger Ailes, chairman of Fox Business, said he would not settle for "anything short of a revolution," given the vast resources and advertising Fox is able to deploy. At this rate, Fox Business Network shouldn't be aiming at CNBC; the network, with its bubbly and attractive correspondents, is competing with personal blogs with virtually no expenses. Maybe what Fox Business needs is more cleavage. Move the ticker to the top of the screen, Roger.
