Anyone else a fan?

Point Blank and Hell In The Pacific are uncompromising masterpieces. I haven't seen Deliverance in years, but I have fond memories of it. I'll be rewatching it soon.

I actually hated Excalibur, though.

Next I'll be watching The Emerald Forest and Zardoz. I'm also very curious about The Exorcist II: The Heretic. Seems to be insanely polarizing.

The Emerald Forest sucked. I can't believe this guy's work took such a nosedive in quality between the '60s and the '80s.

Excalibur with Nigel Terry in it?

if so, I really liked that movie. :/

Yeah, I think that's the one. I thought it was really boring and sloppily directed, but I have to wonder if it was intentionally sloppy.

I really hope that you tell us what you thought of Zardoz. And if you get a chance, Exorcist II: The Heretic.

Whenever I think of John Boorman, I can't help comparing Nicole Williamson as Arthur and Richard Burton as Arthur.

boring... ok, I can't really say what another person would find boring or not. I guess I found parts to be badly edited, or badly constructed maybe? But overall, I liked the feeling of it.

I admit, though, it's been a number of years since I've watched it- like 10, maybe? so I suppose I should watch it again and see if it's aged badly.

That can happen pretty easily- I watched 2001: A Space Odyssey a couple weeks ago with my boyfriend, and he'd never seen it before- it was so bad it was funny. We decided it would be a great "Mystery Science Theater 3000" movie though.

What the fuck? 2001 is one of the greatest movies ever made.

I own a copy of Zardoz, so I'll definitely get back to you after I watch that, which should be soon. EII probably won't be as soon, since Blockbuster is selling off their copy and I don't want to pay $10 for it. Would have been nice to rent. Oh well.

I think for it's time, yes. But I had a hard time watching it last month, and I live for well done sci fi, this just doesn't do it for me, not now anyway.

Ever.

But it's not for everybody, that's for sure.

Rewatched Deliverance last night. It is definitely a good movie. The shot composition and camera movement are stellar, and Boorman does a great job maintaining a tense, uneasy atmosphere throughout.

Watched Zardoz last night, just for you. I enjoyed it. Boatloads of great satire, and some pretty cool images. The opening scene was particularly great.

Could have done without the Plan 9 From Outer Space opening monologue, though.
