I live with two other people in my house, and we all have computers. I got a brand spanking new computer on Wednesday, so i set it up and got the internet working and it was great. Pages were loading super fast, and download speed was ridiculously fast. Anywhoo, i went away for the weekend and came back today to find that the download speed has dropped to even worse than it was before i got the computer. We're all suffering from super-slow downloading now

Can anyone explain this? On Friday, i downloaded a DVD-quality film in about 5 mins, and each part was 100mb and they downloaded between 300KB/Sec - 600KB/Sec but now i'm barely getting 50KB/Sec. I don't understand how it could've dropped so dramatically.

i'm assuming you're getting those Films via a torrent site? because it depends on the amount and upload speed of seeders what speed you get.

nope, i was getting them from a forum called xsharex via rapidshare links. Its strange because pages and general internet is working super fast but youtube/dailymotion clips are buffering slower and downloads are slower too.

50kb here in Australia is pretty damn good. :shock:

yeah, we have a wireless modem router, which is in my room as i'm on the middle floor. It started working fine again last night and it seems to be ok again today, so i don't think there is a serious problem.

That's nuts.

That'd probably be double my plan. We can get up to around 110kb here with 1024kbps plan. But that's about as high as ADSL goes, considering the ADSL+2 or whatever it is, isn't available in many areas, yet.

my friends of Sao Paulo have 2mb and 4mb connection

sorry, i should've been clearerer. The film was uploaded in 15 parts, each was 100mb each.

Did you set up encryption on it? If not, it could be that someone else is using your internet connection. That's why the speeds would slow down

Download speed is confusing me...
