I think I've decided that I want to celebrate my 30th birthday seeing Pearl Jam play in Seattle... Putting aside that I'll have to venture from the eastern side of Australia to do it, what are my chances? I mean will they play this year and do the Seattle tickets generally go pretty fast?

I'd say the chances are realistic, since they haven't played there in a while, and this year is probably a Bridge School Benefit year again. That would be October, then. Chances depend on the size of the venue combined with your own efforts. The main thing is to keep checking so you'll be in time. Good idea .
